Been Busy!!!

Alright for my few followers, I am so sorry that I have not been making active posts!! Life has been a little on the crazy and busy side, especially with schooling life and my constant changing family life! However I have decided to re-attempt to run Book Nerds Anonymous and go longer than setting up and posting two posts! I however will not go back and give a review on the rest of the Hunger Games books, though they are amazing! I would actually like to move on from that to a book I have read most recently in my English class. Although this book was published in 2004, I hadn't heard of it until it was introduced via my English teacher and became this terms main assignment topic for an analytical essay. Although for me it made the book a little annoying to have to write an essay on it, it was still an incredible book and I wish to share it with you!

What is this book you may ask?

Well, it is Malorie Blackman's novel, Noughts and Crosses. This book is unique in the fact that it creates a world where the world's past racism has been reversed by changing who is being oppressed and who is the oppressor during the rise of a civil war between the two races; the noughts and the Crosses. The story closely follows the lives of two families; the McGregors, a nought family who live a rough life of poverty and hard work; and the Hadleys, a wealthy Cross family who are involved in politics. However, it more closely follows the youngest child of each family, Sephy Hadley and Callum McGregor.

The Hunger Games (book 1)

Winning will make you famous.
losing will mean certain death.

Twenty-four are forced to enter. Only the winner survives. In the ruins of a place once known as North America lies the nation of Panem, a shining Capitol surrounded by twelve outlying districts. Each year, the districts are forced by the Capitol to send one boy and one girl between the ages of twelve and eighteen to participate in the Hunger Games, a brutal and terrifying fight to the death - televised for all of Panem to see.
Survival is second nature for sixteen-year-old Katniss Everdeen, who struggles to feed her mother and younger sister by secretly hunting and gathering beyond the fences of District 12. When Katniss steps in to take the place of her sister in the Hunger Games, she knows it may be her death sentence. If she is to survive, she must weigh survival against humanity and life against love.

What to say about the first Hunger Games? Could it be summed up in just three simple words? It's freaking awesome?! Well, I think it could be but you probably want a more detailed description so...Here I ago in the best way I can without spoiling it for those of you who haven't read the book just yet.

The Hunger Games really taps into human emotions and instincts; desperation, horror, humanity, sympathy, friendship, the first love (well, in this book it's a bit one sided), our instincts to survive and things we would do for the ones we love most with a hint of rebellion. Of course it touches into a lot more than that but they're my favourites and also the main ones. The one thing I love most about this book is that Katniss isn't afraid to be who she is and she is a strong character that some people can relate to, such as the fact that Katniss has never really fit in with everyone else and she's been through some tough struggles in which we all have to face our own but luckily we don't have to live through what Katniss does everyday though there are some people who face things that are worse than her life. Overall Katniss is s good character and not like the characters that you read about these days that are so dependant on everyone else and aren't really able to do much for themselves. I would definitely like to be as tough and independent as Katniss. I might even work on my archery skills ^-^ )

If you're looking for a star rating I would say about a four (the next two are infinitely better but you can't go past this book!). The Hunger Games is an extremely capturing page turner that you'll never want to put down! oh and one last thing....IT'S FREAKING AWESOME!

My first post and The Hunger games!!!

Ok!
To put it straight, I am a huge Hunger Games fan! You would not believe how excited I was to hear the newest (not to mention the last of the triology!) had come out and how disappointed I was that I spent all of my money the day before, so I had to wait to get my money in for the week but it was beyond sold out when I got my money and went to the shops!

Luckily, one of my teachers (might I add my favourite as well?) had bought the book and remember that I was starting my blog and need to start it off with something good, so.... She leant me her newly bought copy that she had not even read yet! Just so I could read it! Now, if you have ever seen an excited over-hyperactive squirrel who just recieved an item of it's dreams (probably an acorn), you could imagine how excited I was but I am a little less hairy and a tad bit taller. Oh and I have no tail, just to clear that up.

Being so excited and all, I made a decision (yes that's right, I made it!) to make my first ever book blog post about...Drum roll please!!!......On the Hunger Games triology! Can I get a whoop whoop?! So to start off with tomorrow night (sorry has to be tomorrow, I am over-booked tonight with homework, dinner, Tv and sleeping) I will give my review on the Hunger Games, then the next night (or possibly the night after that because I need to re-read it) Hunger Games-Catching Fire! (Burn Baby! Burn!) and then, of course, the long awaited Hunger Games Mockingjay!!

p.s. Yes I've noticed that I have a slightly crazed and pathetic sense of humour but don't be a hater, it's a bad look on everybody! :D
